The Ebony Angels was founded in 1994. We me through the Motorcycle Safety Course, place of employment, and by word of mouth. We presently have 9 members and 1 honorary support member. We are a Christian group of women with a passion for motorcycle.
In 1995 we wanted to acknowledge the Ebony Angels by hosting what is now our Annual Thats What Friends Are For Cookout. This Cookout is a Non-Alcoholic, Drug-Free, Family Oriented event that motorcyclist can bring their children too, if so desired for a day of food, fun, games and music. Due to the overwhelming success of the Third Annual T.W.F.A.F. Cookout, our past location will not hold the multitude of peopletherefore this years event will be held at a larger facility. It will also include fishing and overnight camping. We were sponsored by local motorcycle dealerships for the event.
Abiding by our mission, in 1998 the Ebony Angels joined forces with the Raleigh Police Department in supporting the Outward Bound Scholarship Program. Through this program, at risk teens are selected to spend the summer in the North Carolina Mountains for an outdoor education expedition; however due to circumstances beyond our control, the program was cancelled.
We are now looking into youth programs such as Send A Kid to Summer Camp and raising funds for an area homeless womens shelter.
The Ebony Angels would also like to deter stereotypes that many female motorcyclists are masculine, and certainly not all female motorcyclists like to fellowship in bars, smoking, drinking, being subject to vulgar language, and unwanted physical contact.
We are femine, dainty, motorcycle divas, riding with grace and style. We demand the utmost respect that every woman deserves.
